Early Refills of Maintenance Medications for Members Affected by Wildfires

To help our members get the medications they need, HMSA will allow early refills of maintenance medication. Submission Clarification Code (SCC) 13 is in production for all lines of business to assist with this early refill override process. Gov. Green’s emergency proclamation allows pharmacists to refill prescriptions for people directly affected by the wildfire disaster with up to a 30-day supply, even when the pharmacist is unable to obtain refill authorization from the prescriber for non-controlled substances.
